A Testament To The Forgotten

At We Believe in Israel (WBII), we have never shied away from difficult truths. Today, we ask our community—and the world—to confront one of the most harrowing and morally urgent injustices of our time: the continued captivity and deliberate starvation of Israeli hostages in Gaza.

On October 7th, innocent men, women, children, and the elderly were violently abducted by Hamas. Since then, many have vanished into a network of tunnels beneath Gaza, stripped not only of their freedom, but of food, medicine, daylight, and dignity. This is not collateral damage. This is not the fog of war. This is the calculated weaponisation of starvation—a war crime and, when systematic, a crime against humanity under international law.

Despite clear evidence—including testimonies and recent footage showing emaciated hostages—global institutions have responded with shameful silence. The moral outrage that would normally follow such violations has been muffled by double standards and selective indignation. This silence is not neutrality—it is complicity.

To confront this moral failure, WBII, in collaboration with The Shield of David, has published a landmark booklet:
🕯️ A Testament to the Forgotten
This is more than a record. It is a call to action—a demand for legal accountability, diplomatic pressure, and unrelenting public awareness.

⚖️ Why This Matters

  • Starvation as a Weapon: Under Article 8 of the Rome Statute, the deliberate denial of food and medicine to civilians is recognised as a prosecutable war crime.

  • Psychological Torture: Hostages are not only being starved of nourishment—they are being starved of hope.

  • Selective Outrage: When the world turns away from such crimes, it reinforces the idea that some victims are more visible—more “grievable”—than others.

🗣️ What You Can Do

  1. Read and Share the Booklet
Share it with journalists, educators, policymakers, and community leaders.

  2. Challenge Misinformation
Speak out wherever distortion and deflection occur—on social media, in meetings, in your local institutions.

  3. Join the Campaign
Sign up to receive updates from WBII and The Shield of David as we coordinate advocacy efforts across civil society and government.

  4. Donate to the Cause
Your support allows us to counter hate with truth, amplify the voices of the silenced, and press our leaders to act.

✡️ Let History Not Repeat

As Elie Wiesel warned, “The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.” We will not be indifferent. We will not be silent. We will not allow the hostages to be forgotten.
