The Co-op Group boycotts a number of Israeli fruit and vegetable suppliers. One of the reasons they give for not reviewing this policy is that “there had been no further national representations to change this policy since the discussions in 2012” (source: correspondence from SE Regional Secretary).

We the undersigned therefore wish to record our strong opposition to the Co-op’s policy of boycotting certain Israeli companies. It is highly offensive to us because it discriminates against Israel, it is negative and counterproductive, and it encourages extremism and divides communities in the Middle East and at home. As shoppers we want to have the choice to buy Israeli goods which are often the best fruit and vegetables and other products available. We expect the Co-op to use its trade and ethical policies to promote prosperity and peace between Israelis and Palestinians, not drive a wedge between them by Boycotts.
