Contribute to the UK’s Strategic Approach on the Israel-Palestinian Conflict: Your Insight is Crucial
We are pleased to announce that, despite the official submission deadline having passed, we have successfully secured an extension for the Call for Evidence issued by the UK’s Foreign Affairs Committee. This is a crucial opportunity to ensure that our collective voice is heard in shaping the UK’s policy towards the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
The Foreign Affairs Committee is seeking contributions from stakeholders to inform their assessment of the UK’s role in this ongoing issue. Although the official submission deadline was listed as closed, we’ve been able to extend the time for responses, giving us the chance to participate in this important process.
What is the Call for Evidence?
The Call for Evidence seeks responses to a set of questions put forward by the Foreign Affairs Committee. These questions aim to inform the UK’s approach to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, particularly in the context of achieving lasting peace and addressing broader geopolitical concerns. This is an opportunity for all of us to contribute informed, evidence-based perspectives on how the UK can better navigate its role in this critical issue.
How Can You Get Involved?
We’ve outlined a clear and straightforward process for you to participate. For each question presented by the Foreign Affairs Committee, we’ve prepared a model response designed to help guide your thinking and ensure your submission is well-informed, legally grounded, and focused on realistic solutions.
Here’s what you need to do:
-
Choose a Question: The Foreign Affairs Committee has posed three key questions. You only need to choose onequestion to respond to.
-
Review the Model Response: For each question, we have prepared a model response. These are not pre-written answers but frameworks designed to help you structure your submission based on existing UK policies and international law.
-
Formulate Your Response: Use the model response as a guide, but ensure that your submission reflects your own views, perspectives, and insights into the topic.
The Three Key Questions:
-
What can – and should – the UK do, in cooperation with regional and international partners, to help bring about a ceasefire?
-
What can be learned from the record of UK Government policies to date?
-
How can the UK assure the resilience of efforts to bring about a lasting peace at a time of uncertainty caused by conflicts elsewhere and changes in leadership in the international community?
How to Submit:
-
Choose one of the questions to respond to.
-
Refer to the model response for that question.
-
Draft and submit your response via the official submission portal. The submission form can be accessed here.
Why Your Contribution Matters:
The UK’s foreign policy towards the Israel-Palestinian conflict has far-reaching implications for both regional stability and broader international security. By contributing to this Call for Evidence, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the UK’s approach remains grounded in pragmatism, legal principles, and strategic foresight.
The Foreign Affairs Committee’s inquiry offers a unique chance to engage with the UK government on its policies at a pivotal moment. As we look to the future, it is essential that the UK remains a steadfast advocate for peace and security, and that its policies reflect a commitment to international law and moral clarity. Your input will be critical in guiding these discussions.
We are excited to work together to ensure that our collective insights help shape a robust and informed UK foreign policy. With this extended window for submissions, we encourage all stakeholders to participate and help influence the conversation on the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
