Challenging the UNHRC Report “From Occupation to Genocide”: A Rebuttal

The We Believe in Israel (WBII) team, in partnership with Stop the Hate UK and The Shield of David, is proud to unveil a robust rebuttal to Francesca Albanese’s July 2025 report to the UN Human Rights Council, From the Economy of Occupation to the Economy of Genocide.

Albanese’s report, already widely criticised for its partisan framing and glaring omissions, accuses Israel of committing genocide and practising apartheid—without acknowledging the existence of Hamas, its October 7 massacre, or the extensive evidence of Palestinian terrorism.

Our newly released policy rebuttal exposes the factual, legal, and methodological deficiencies of Albanese’s report, and challenges its ideological underpinnings. Drawing on international legal definitions, demographic data, and a commitment to historical truth, this document dismantles the core libels at the heart of the UN report—from the misuse of the term "genocide" to the politically motivated distortions around “genocidal capitalism” and “apartheid.”

In parallel, we are releasing a Parliamentary Briefing tailored for MPs and Peers. This shorter document distils the most urgent legal and factual counterpoints and is designed to assist those defending the UK’s commitment to international law, truth, and democratic values.

We invite all readers—whether academics, journalists, concerned citizens, or parliamentarians—to explore these essential resources and join us in ensuring that international legal institutions are not hijacked by ideology.
